What is Start for Life?

Start for Life Lewisham is a two-year government funded programme under the Family hub Initiative that supports with parenting in the early years, including infant feeding and perinatal mental health (perinatal is the period from pregnancy to the first year of a child’s life).

We are currently running the Triple P Baby parenting programme throughout the Family Hubs and children’s centres in the borough, more information on this can be found by clicking here.

What is Triple P baby?

Triple P Baby is an eight-week course, with four group sessions and three 1:1 sessions. We are also fortunate to be able to offer 1:1 sessions under the Start for Life programme where a more intensive approach may be needed.

These sessions are designed to help with the transition from being pregnant to having a new little person in your life, all babies are welcome up to the age of 9 months.

Building a close relationship with your baby

A child’s experiences in their early years shapes their rapidly developing brain. This is an important opportunity for you to give your baby the best start in life.

It is your baby’s experiences with you and with the world around them, that make connections in their brain.

Understanding your baby

Babies don’t come with a manual, but they work hard to tell you what they need.

An important part of learning about your baby is recognising and responding to when they are ready to play, sleep, cuddle, rest and feed.
